To insert a widget into a document

  1. Open the document in Design or Editable mode.

  2. If the document does not contain a dataset in the Dataset Objects panel, add a dataset to the document by selecting Add Dataset from the Data menu. For steps, see Adding, changing, or removing a dataset report.

  3. From the Insert menu, point to Widgets, then point to one of the following :

  4. Select the type of widget you want to insert. For a description of widget types, see Providing Flash-based analysis and interactivity: Widgets.

  5. Click a location on your document in which to place the widget. You cannot place the widget in the Detail section of a document. The Grid/Graph that contains the widget is displayed. A small icon is displayed at the bottom right of the Grid/Graph, identifying the type of widget that you added to the document.

  6. If desired, resize the widget by clicking and dragging its handles.

  7. Each type of widget requires a specific number, type, and arrangement of report objects on the Grid/Graph. Use the links below to define the type of widget you are working with.

    Note
: Report objects included on the Grid/Graph must come from the same dataset.

  8. Some widgets can display data from more than one Grid/Graph. For these widgets, you can specify one or more Grid/Graphs as secondary data providers.

  9. View and test your results by selecting Flash Mode from the Home menu.
