The MicroStrategy Web home page provides icons and links for the most commonly used areas of a project:
Shared Reports: To share reports, documents,
and other objects with other users, save them in the Shared Reports folder.
Depending on their access permissions, other users may be able to access,
view, and edit the objects stored in Shared Reports.
Your user and group object permissions determine the objects that are
available to you and other users in the Shared Reports folder. For example,
you might have access to only Folder A in the Shared Reports folder, another
user might have access to only Folder B, while a group of other users
has access to both folders.
My Reports: To restrict access to reports,
documents, and other objects to yourself, save them in the My Reports
folder. You can also create subfolders within the My Reports folder to
organize your reports and documents.
You may not have access to the My Reports folder if:
You are logged in as a guest user.
Your administrator has imposed access restrictions on users or user groups for the My Reports folder.
History List: Your History List folder contains links to reports and documents you have subscribed to. It also displays messages about reports and documents that you run. For more information on subscriptions, see Subscribing to and delivering reports and documents.
My Subscriptions: The My Subscriptions folder contains a list of all your subscriptions. You can edit the options for a subscription, such as the file format in which the subscription is delivered. For steps, see Managing subscriptions.
Create Report: Creates a new report. This link is available only if you have Report Designer privileges.
Create Document: Creates a new document or dashboard. This link is available only if you own the MicroStrategy Report Services product and have Document Designer privileges.
Create Prompt: Creates a new prompt for a report or document. The list of available prompts opens when you click the link.
Create Filter: Creates a new filter for a report or document.
Import Data: Allows you to import data from outside the project, such as from an Excel file or database table. You can use this data to create reports and documents. For details and steps to import data, see the Advanced Reporting Guide.
Express Data Publisher: Allows you to quickly create a document by using an existing document template.
Preferences: Lets you modify a number of MicroStrategy Web user preferences to customize the way you work with reports, documents, prompts, and other objects. For more information, see General preferences.
Search: The Search page lets you run a quick search for a report, document, or other object in the project.
Intelligence Server Administrator: Lets you log in as an Intelligence Server Administrator and allows you to manage users and security roles. This link is only displayed if you have administrative privileges in MicroStrategy Web.
You may not see all of the icons and links described above, depending on your product license and the privileges assigned to you by your administrator.
A status message may be displayed on the home page when you log in. This message provides information from your administrator about the selected project, such as when objects are being updated.
