To add report data and report objects to a document, see Adding, changing, or removing a dataset report.
Text is displayed in documents through text fields. Text fields are a type of control. They can be metrics or attributes from a dataset. They can also be page numbers or descriptive labels. Following are the different types of text fields:
Static text: This text does not change and serves as a label. When you view the document as a PDF, static text is displayed with the same formatting as in Design Mode. For steps, see Adding data fields to a document.
Dynamic text: This text is populated by the document or dataset. Dynamic text is always included within braces { }. There are two types of dynamic text:
Data field: This is populated from a dataset with data that originated in the data warehouse (or an Intelligence Server cache). A data field is only a reference to an object on a report. The object can be a metric, attribute, consolidation, or custom group. If the object referenced by a data field is removed from the dataset report, the data field will become static text when the PDF is created.
Auto text code: This is populated by the document or dataset. It consists of the document's or dataset's properties rather than data from the data warehouse. It includes information such as the document's name, page number, execution time, and so on. Auto text codes can be considered as a type of variable. For the full list of available codes, see Auto text codes: datasets and Auto text codes: documents.
A combination of any or all of the types: You can use a combination of different types of text fields in a single text field.
