When you import data from a file, such as an Excel spreadsheet, you can specify the location of the file using the File Upload page. You can select a file on your computer or network, or specify the location of your file as a URL. For background information about importing data from a file or database to create reports, documents, and analyses, see the Importing Data chapter in the Advanced Reporting Guide.
Do one of the following:
To import data from a file on your computer or network, select the From My Computer/Network option.
Click Browse. The Select a File to Upload dialog box is displayed.
Browse to and select a file to import, then click Open.
To import data from a file using a URL link, select the From the URL (http://...) option, then type the location of the file in the field below.
Do one of the following, based on whether you want to view a preview of the data:
To display a preview of the data being imported, select the Show a preview of the data and display available transformation options for Excel spreadsheets check box. If you are importing data from an Excel file, the first sheet of the workbook is displayed by default.
Click Next. A preview of the imported data is displayed on the Preview page. Select the appropriate options, such as which sheet in an Excel workbook you want to import data from, then click Next. The Column Mapping page is displayed.
To continue without viewing a preview of the data, click Next.
If the file used to import data is an Excel workbook with more than one sheet of data, select the name of the sheet from which you want to import data from the Select sheet to import drop-down list, then click OK. The Column Mapping page is displayed.
