When answering a prompt by defining a filter based on an attribute, you can import values from an existing file to define the filter, rather than typing each value by hand. For example, you want to filter data based on the Region attribute. You can import a saved file containing the text Southeast, Central to view data for the Southeast and Central regions.
The saved file must be a .txt or .csv file.
You can import prompt values for:
Hierarchy prompts, in which the user selects a hierarchy from a drop-down list, and then select an attribute to create a filter for the attribute.
Attribute Qualification prompts, in which the user creates a filter based on an attribute.
This procedure assumes you have already begun answering a prompt by defining a filter based on an attribute. For detailed steps to define a filter for a prompted report or document, see Answering a prompt by defining a filter based on an attribute.
From the attributes in the Selected pane, select an attribute on which to filter.
Click above the Selected pane.
Click the Browse... button. The Choose File to Upload dialog box is displayed.
Navigate to and select the file containing the values to be imported.
Click Open to close the Choose File to Upload dialog box.
Click Import to preview the contents of the selected file. The contents of the file appear in the pane below.
Click OK to close the dialog box. The attribute in the Selected pane is updated with the values from the imported file.
Once you have finished defining the filter, you can answer the next prompt on the report or document. If there are no other prompts to answer, you can run the report or document. For steps, see Answering a prompt by defining a filter based on an attribute.
