Displaying or hiding headers in a dataset report

You can choose to hide or display column headers and/or row headers in the grid report displayed in a Grid/Graph. By default, both column and row headers are displayed.

Hiding the column headers can be helpful when you combine multiple Grid/Graphs vertically. The absence of column headers gives the appearance of a single grid. For an example, see the MicroStrategy Report Services Document Creation Guide.

To hide or display column or row headers

  1. Open the document in Design or Editable Mode.

  2. Select the Grid/Graph to edit.

  3. The Grid/Graph must be displayed as a grid or as a grid and a graph. (Grid options apply only to the grid portion of a combined grid and graph report display.)

Note: If the Grid/Graph is a shortcut, you cannot edit it because it is linked to the dataset report. A message appears, allowing you to choose whether to unlink the shortcut. If you click OK, changes made to the dataset report are no longer passed to the Grid/Graph in the document.

  4. On the Format menu, select Properties and Formatting. The Properties and Formatting dialog box opens.

  5. From the left, select Grid.

  6. The Show check box in the Rows area determines whether row headers are displayed. By default, they are displayed and this check box is selected. To hide them, clear the Show check box.

  7. The Show column headers check box  in the Columns area determines whether column headers are displayed. By default, they are displayed and this check box is selected. To hide them, clear the Show check box.

  8. Click OK to return to the Document Editor.
