You can display real-time information from the web within your dashboard. For example, you can display a stock ticker running in real time, or your favorite financial page from the web that is updated in real time.
You can achieve this real-time display by creating an HTML container and adding it to your dashboard. The real-time information is displayed within the HTML container.
In an HTML container, HTML code can be displayed directly in the document. The contents of the HTML container can be displayed in the following modes in MicroStrategy Web:
Express Mode
Editable Mode
Interactive Mode
You provide HTML code for the HTML container using either of the following methods:
You can enter HTML code when you create the HTML container. For an example, see Using HTML code to display HTML.
You can provide a URL when you create the HTML container. The HTML code is retrieved dynamically when the document is executed. For examples, see Displaying a website using a URL (IFrame).
Note: Fully formatted HTML is not displayed when the document is displayed in PDF View or when the document is exported to Excel.
You can format the HTML container itself, with borders and drop shadows, for instance. For examples and instructions, see Formatting HTML containers. The formatting of actual content inside the HTML container, however, is determined by either the HTML code or the website displayed by the URL.
You can also arrange and resize HTML containers, as you do other control types. For instructions and examples, see the following:
