Determining which report export modes are available to users

Analysts can export reports in a variety of formats, such as HTML, Microsoft Excel, and plain text. You can determine which formats a report can be exported to. For example, you can ensure that a report can be exported to Microsoft Excel and HTML, but not to PDF.

Users must have the appropriate software loaded on their computers to successfully export to that software. For example, to export a MicroStrategy report to Microsoft Excel, the user's machine must have Excel software loaded.

To define which report export modes are available to users

  1. Run a report.

  2. From the Tools menu, select Report Options. The Report Options dialog box opens.

  3. On the Other tab, in the Available Export Formats area, select the format(s) in which the report can be exported. See the bullets above for which report types work best for an export mode, and what the user experiences with each export mode.

  4. Select OK.

When a user executes the report, the export formats you designate are listed in the Export Options page for the user to choose from.
